DELIVERANCE AND HEALING
By PBS Ministries
The Bible gives us several instructions how to live a life that pleases God. We read about some of these in 1 Thessalonians 4:1-10
1. Be sanctified. God has chosen you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. When you are set apart for God’s use, you are to purify yourself from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. (2 Corinthians 7:1)
2. Avoid sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body. But if you sin sexually, you sin against your own body. Sexual sins include fornication, adultery and homosexuality. The text says that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God. You are not your own, you have been bought with a price, therefore you are to honor God with your body.
3. Control your body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen who do not know God. Apostle Paul tells us that if we cannot control ourselves, we should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with lust. Each man must have his own wife, and each wife her own husband.
4. Do not take advantage of your brother or sister. We are to be our brother’s keeper. We are to show unconditional love one for another. 1 John 4:7-9 admonish us to love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.
The Lord will punish men for all such sins. He will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. He wants us to be pure and to live a holy life as He is Holy. The Bible says when you reject these instructions, you do not reject man, but you reject God who gives you His Holy Spirit. You cannot live a holy life in your own strength. If you try, you will fail miserably everytime. It will only take the power of Jesus Christ to make you whole. If you are in distress, if you are suffering, or if you are broke, busted and disgusted, you can call on the Lord right now, He will answer you and set you free.
Galatians 5:1 reminds us that it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” God’s Word is truth. To know the truth, you have to know the Word of God, you have to renew your mind with the truth and you have to live the truth daily.
You do not have to be struck down with sexual sin, you do not have to hate your brother or sister or you do not have to live a life of lust. Jesus wants to help you to overcome your worldly desires so you can live life in the Spirit and be holy as Christ is Holy. Let Jesus help you today to make that decision. If you ask, you will receive. He will never leave you to walk this journey alone, He sticks closer than a brother and He will never leave you or forsake you. If you confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Just call on Him today and begin to live a life that pleases God.Amen
