DELIVERANCE AND HEALING

Unshakeable Faith

By PBS Ministries

We sing the Hymn:

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

There is only one name we can call upon for deliverance, for healing, for restoration, that is the name of Jesus Christ. The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. We can only go to the Father through His Son Jesus Christ, our risen Savior and soon coming King. Let us honor His name.

Jesus says come unto me all those who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. In the passage of Scripture, Mark 10: 46-52, we read that blind Bartimaeus wanted his sight restored. He knew about the power of the risen Savior and by faith, he called out to Jesus for help.

Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Blind manOur faith in the Lord must be unshakeable and unstoppable. Jesus said if we believe, we shall see the glory of God. The devil will try to deter us, to hinder us, and to frustrate the process, but we are to wholly trust in Jesus’ name. He is our firm foundation, He is the solid rock on which we stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

Blind Bartimaeus wanted healing. And he knew the healer was passing by. Jesus is no respecter of person. Blind Bartimaeus was sitting at the roadside begging. But thanks be to God, our status in life cannot prevent us from calling out to almighty God.  When he shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet. What I like about Blind Bartimaeus is that when he was rebuked, he shouted all the more, “Son of David have mercy on me!”

In life today, many people are favored because of their profession, because of their status in society, because of who their parents are and because of the schools and university they attended. If you are not in a particular social bracket, you are belittled and placed at the bottom of the ladder. Blind Bartimaeus was told to be quiet by many, but what man meant for evil, God turns it around for our good.

Jesus stopped and said, call him. He threw off his cloak, jumped to his feet and went to Jesus. He had so much faith, he rid himself of every baggage that was a hindrance and stood before our King. When Jesus asked him, what do you want me to do for you? He said Rabbi, I want to see. Jesus said to him, go, your faith has healed you and immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus.

How many of us today have the faith to cry out to God and say, Father, I want to see? Jesus is here to bring recovery of sight for the blind and to set the oppressed free. If we just have mustard seed faith and believe in the promises of God, He will set us free, deliver us and give us a new life in Christ. If you have faith and do not doubt in your heart, whatever you want to be done, it will be done. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Many of us find it hard to believe and to wait on the promises of God. Men would rather say, ‘show me and I will trust you.’ But God tells us, trust me and I will show you.’ We live in a world where we want instant gratification. But God’s time is not our time, His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts. So let us not lean onto our own understanding but trust in Jesus, our solid rock to deliver us, to heal us and to bring restoration to us.

The Prince of Peace is passing by, let us call on Him today, let us have the faith that nothing is too difficult for Him to handle. Jesus says with man, this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Jesus wants to meet you at your point of need. He is no respecter of person. Like Blind Bartimaeus, by faith, just call on Jesus today and He will never be too busy to hear your heart cry. For He is waiting to deliver you, to heal you and to set you free. Just trust Him today. Amen
