DELIVERANCE AND HEALING
By Petal Barclay-Smith
To God be the glory, great things He has done. We are truly living in the last days as we continue to see terrible things in these days as the day of the Savior is approaching.
As we look around, we see daily that people are becoming more and more lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, ungrateful and unholy. Many are lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. They have a form of godliness but denying its power. And God has instructed us to have nothing to do with such people.
Our righteous and holy God seek after a people who are holy as He is holy. He wants us to be spotless and without wrinkle. He wants us to produce fruit in keeping with repentance. If we claim that we are in Christ, we should be a new creation. Our old fleshy ways should pass away, and we should be brand new children in Christ.
But everyone is like sheep gone astray, everyone has turned to his own way. If Jesus has truly set us free, we should be free indeed. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in us and we cannot keep on sinning because we have been born of God. When Christians continue to conceal their sins, rest assure, destruction will definitely come their way.
Believers, if we continue in sin, God promises to expose our nakedness and uncover our shame. “I will take vengeance, I will spare no one”, says the Lord. We are to live the Christlike life. Jesus is looking for true worshippers. We read in the Gospel of John, Chapter 4 that Jesus says the time is coming and has come when true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks.
In the Book of Romans, Chapter 12, verses 1-2, we have been urged to “offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
If we call on the name of the Lord and ask for forgiveness of our sins, He is well able to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Second Chronicles 7:14 tells us, if my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
God wants us to put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within us. We are to have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, pride and evil desires. We are not to be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. And because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.
In the past, God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent. So brothers and sisters, I encourage us to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us return to the joy of our salvation. It is only the grace of God that will help us to make it to the end. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him so that you may overflow in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
